The vision.

Ok, so I have to update this thing with stuff about my life. My life is pretty boring, but I am going to write about it anyway, seeing as this is a blog. about me. no one else. which means no one else will do it for me.
What has been sucking up the time in my life for the summer has largely been the graphics engine that I have been working on for the past year. It started off as a project to do just for fun, to see if I could actually do it. Now that it appears that I actually CAN do it, I have a whole new approach to the development cycle and the design of my engine. Now I am designing with a target and a vision.
The engine is designed for a game type atmosphere, very scalable, yet designed for a game at the same time. What I am planning to do is make a star wars type space flight simulator. It would be realistic in that it would have actual gravitational effects, realistic planet sizes and distances, actual atmospheric effects of flying near planets and landing on them, and the ability to jump out and explore/colonize planets. It would have Star wars like physics in that the ships would be able to move in futuristic ways, yet with specific physical rules and limits. Along with a large assortment of possible ships to purchase from other people or dealers there will be a whole galaxy of planets and systems and small orbiting objects such as asteroids.
Ultimately, under ideal circumstances and events, this would become a massive multiplayer game with people scouring the worlds and planets. But, of course, that requires a genius of a network programmer and a couple tens of thousands of dollars in computers and fiber cables and redundant power systems.
So, that's the plan anyway. I'll go into detail about the engine later.

You didn't actually think this blog was about me, did you? Look at the stupid title, man. You come here, you get to read about my cyber world.
